Screenprinting
I enjoy drawing directly on a sheet of true grain film with black pens, crayons, ink and/or paint. This is a transparent textured paper which allows for tones and textures. The colours can be built up in layers. A photo solution is added onto the mesh screen and then placed in a UV exposure unit. The drawing sheets are exposed photographically onto the screen. (Photographs can be exposed on a screen in a similar way) Sometimes I also use blocking out fluid to paint a design or stencils which can mask out areas. A squeegee is used to force ink through the screen and multiple prints can be printed.
